About funded/unfunded pay amounts  

Our funding confirmation is currently pending so you will see two numbers for pay: funded and unfunded. Actual compensation may fall anywhere between these two numbers. If we receive full funding, the higher number will be rewarded. We apologize for the uncertainty.

 

Positions

 

Sponsorship Coordinator

The Sponsorship Coordinator (SC) is responsible for reaching out to potential donors in order to increase the budget for the White Rabbit Residency and Festival. Donations / donors are limited only by the imagination and can range from cash to in-kind, from food to electronics, from gifts to loans to discounts. The expected time commitment is 20hrs/week for four weeks but can be spread over however long the SC needs to make it all happen (May 1st - Aug 1st approx). The expectation is to fundraise approx. $2700, while this seems like a lot, it adds up quickly when all the little contributions are added up. Because this role takes place before and after White Rabbit, feel free to also apply for jobs that take place during the Residency.

Specific Tasks

  • Liaise with donors, including final communication such as thank you letters.
  • Coordinate a fundraising drive for acoustic musicians who play during the festival. A part of this will involve working with the Radio Manager to organize a radio event/café.
  • Collect and/or coordinate the collection of donations.
  • Document donations and report back to White Rabbit Arts.
  • Return any equipment borrowed.
  • Write a brief guide for future Sponsorship Coordinators.

Pay : $900 funded / $900 unfunded, plus Room and Board at Red Clay

Duration : 80hrs (from now until Sept.1)

 

Residency Coordinator

The Residency Coordinator (ResC) is responsible for orchestrating and facilitating the White Rabbit Residency from Aug 12th-19th. They are supported by and must communicate effectively with the White Rabbit Arts board. The Residency Coordinator's main responsibility will be facilitation and communication with the residency participants as well as with on-site volunteers and staff. During the residency, the ResC may facilitate a variety of workshops, dialogues, artists talks (either with residents, volunteers, staff or possible visiting artists), optional excursions in the surrounding region and evening fire circles. These fire circles are one of the key features of White Rabbit and are meant to help residents process their efforts, emotions and discoveries of each day.

Specific Tasks during the Residency include (with the help of volunteers):

  • Organize and coordinate the support team
  • Work with the Radio Manager to schedule radio hosting
  • Organize community events
  • Work with the volunteer coordinator to ensure amenities are ship-shape at Red Clay, including bathrooms, showers, and garbage organization
  • Communicate with the Head Site Volunteer any residency-specific needs for facility maintenance, repairs, and upgrades
  • Work with the volunteer coordinator to ensure site and facilities are clean at all times
  • Work with Tom to ensure that any necessary amenities, such as phone or internet, are available to Residents
  • Organize and explain job descriptions to residency volunteers.
  • Keep participants, volunteers, and staff informed of schedule etc
  • Ensure disclaimers are filled out and filed
  • Organize and maintain functional studio space
  • Orchestrate necessary signage and community information boards
  • Set up and organize the tool room

Pay: $600 funded / $450 unfunded, plus Room and Board at Red Clay

Duration: Full-time from August: 10th - 21st

 

Residency Administrator

In the months prior to the Residency, the Residency Administrator (RA) will be the primary contact between the Residency participants and the White Rabbit Arts board. Most communication will be happen online or by telephone. They will ensure timely answers to any questions Residents might have about the Residency and will help to accommodate any special requirements in conjunction with the WR board and staff. The RA will also work for the first two full days of the Residency to facilitate the arrival and introduction of Residents to the land, volunteers, and staff, together with the Residency Coordinator.

Specific tasks prior to the Residency include:

  • Correspond with accepted and rejected applicants.
  • Maintain waiting list.
  • Send out info packages.
  • Request and track deposits.
  • Set up PayPal and bank transaction processes.
  • Document payments and maintain payment accounts.
  • Request balance of payments.
  • Communicate with participants to find out:
    • Their special requirements, how they can be supported
    • Their health concerns (epipens, food allergies etc.)
  • Communicate with finance committee to ensure expenses pertaining to residents’ requests and travel are within budget

Pay: $900 funded / $675 unfunded, plus Room and Board at Red Clay

Duration: 10hrs/week from June 1 - Aug.10, Full time Aug. 11-12

 

Red Clay Radio Manager

The Radio Manager (RM) is responsible for setting up and facilitating White Rabbit’s on-site pirate radio station for the duration of the Residency. During the Residency the radio manager organizes the radio room and equipment, provides orientations for Residents, and facilitates radio content. The radio manager must either work with previous RM’s to familiarize themselves with these requirements or have the capacity to fulfill these requirements independently. Prior to the White Rabbit Residency, the RM will work with the Sponsorship Coordinator to organize a radio fundraiser to gain confidence with the radio equipment and to gather honorarium funds for the acoustic artists that will be invited to play throughout the Festival.

Specific tasks before Residency:

  • Consult with prior RMs and/or research independently to ensure you can meet the above mentioned requirements.
  • Organize and plan for required radio equipment to be transported to Red Clay for the residency.
  • Research online live broadcasting and archiving.
  • Organize creation of PSAs by Rabbits for local community supporters.
  • Work with the Sponsorship Coordinator to organize a radio fundraiser to gather honorarium funds for the acoustic artists that will be invited to play throughout the Festival.

Specific tasks during Residency:

  • Setup and maintain the radio room.
  • Run workshops and train participating artists on radio broadcasting.
  • Lead a sound/radio art-based workshop.
  • Schedule and encourage participation in radio programming during the week.
  • Host radio interviews with participating artists.
  • Create a manual for radio operations.
  • Develop radio programming for the White Rabbit Festival.
  • Stream and/or catalogue Radio programming for future download whenever possible. 

Pay: $400 funded / $200 unfunded, plus Room and Board at Red Clay

Duration: Full-time August 11-18

 

Residency Cook Staff (2 positions)

White Rabbit pursues a goal of culinary excellence in food preparation and the cooks are an integral part in creating the Residents' experience. Before the residency, the cooks will work with the Sponsorship Coordinator to find donated and discounted food, when possible. Most vegetables are no-spray and are harvested on-site or locally sourced. During the Residency, the cooks will prepare all meals and snacks for participants, staff, and volunteers, based on schedules set in consultation with the Residency Coordinator. The cooks will be assigned two or three kitchen volunteers who will help 4 hours a day with harvesting vegetables from the gardens, cooking, and cleaning-up.

Specific tasks before Residency:

  • Design menu and food plan, catering to participants dietary needs.
  • Communicate with the Sponsorship Coordinator to work with and understand what food donations are available, as well as prepare a list of food desires for the SC.
  • Organize food purchases and delivery to Red Clay.

Specific tasks during Residency:

  • Plan and Prepare 3 meals and a snack daily for residents, staff and volunteers, 20 to 35 people depending on the day; you will be regularly updated on current numbers and expected numbers.
  • Ensure the kitchen and serving areas are kept clean and sanitary.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is in the same or a better state than when you arrived upon your departure.
  • Keep stock of remaining inventory that will be available for the festival cooks and communicate this to them late-mid-week so that they can plan their purchases.
  • If there is a large amount of excess food at the end of the week, communicate this to the board so that they can determine if it can be used elsewhere.
  • Coordinate the kitchen volunteers.

Pay: $1700 funded / $1000 unfunded, plus Room and Board at Red Clay
